Zain Javaid, 23, of Farmingdale, was arrested around 2:40 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 15, after officers observed him driving a 2013 Audi AS4 westbound at a high rate of speed while racing another vehicle at the intersection of Allen and Adams Boulevards, in East Farmingdale, said the Suffolk County Police.
Javaid was stopped by an undercover drag racing officers, in response to numerous community complaints, the department said.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and arrested Javaid. His vehicle was seized under Suffolk County Law for being involved in a speed contest.
Javaid was charged with unlawful speed contest and reckless driving. He was also issued summonses for multiple traffic violations.
He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.
